Los Altos, CA, USA – May 23, 2019  --    piXlogic has announced today an update to its award-winning software that targets customers that wish to deploy face recognition capabilities on premises, with full control over their internal data and processes.

Face recognition software solutions are of particular interest to government organizations as they provide valuable information to help solve cases and protect the public.  Software solutions are available, but for the most part they are on the cloud and at the API level, which means a) the customer has to invest software engineering resources to create useful applications, b) the customer does not have visibility into where and how their images are processed and what happens to the data generated, and c) a service provider may choose not to offer the service any longer, putting in jeopardy the customer investment in their own data.

piXlogic has developed a software solution that is deployable on-premises at the customer facility.  The software, piXserve, is a state-of-the-art application that is used to index and search images and videos in a broad range of formats.  It handles faces, objects, text strings, and scenes detection, recognition, and search.  The software is available in editions suitable for small groups of users all the way to large enterprise deployments, and piXserve detects and recognizes faces accurately under a broad range of conditions (lighting, face rotation, image quality, etc.).  Up to 100 faces per image can be detected and recognized simultaneously.  The software design is such that a-priori face “registration” is not required.  Any ad-hoc face can be searched “on-the-fly” using a simple “drag and drop” of a face image.

In addition to the technical advantages provided by piXserve’s superior technology, piXserve brings to customers additional advantages, including:

1.       piXserve is a mature and fully productized application with a user interface and a workflow environment that supports a broad set of use-cases.  Developer resources are not needed to use the software, and users can be productive from the start.  The savings can be significant.  For customers that need customized use, a web services API is available as well.

2.       The ability to deploy piXserve in-house lets the customer retain complete control over their data, how it’s handled, and what happens to it.  The data does not leave their premises and is not shared or seen by anyone outside of the customer.  Issues of security, privacy and control are fully in the hands of the customer.

3.       With piXserve, there are no per-image charges.  The software is sold on a subscription basis, regardless of the volume processed.  This is often far cheaper than what cloud service providers charge for API usage alone.  The software is also sold on a perpetual license basis.  This means that the customer need not worry about the longevity of their data.  With cloud service providers, if the service is terminated, years of investment in their data can go waste.  With an on-prem perpetual license, the customer is in full control at all times, and the investment value is retained.

“We are excited to be able to put the customer first.  With an on-prem deployment of piXserve, law enforcement customers gain a level of control not available from service providers.  In one package, piXserve solves many image/video search problems, face recognition certainly being an important one.  Our customers really appreciate the benefits of our technology and the deployment flexibility that its architecture provides,” says Joe Santucci, piXlogic’s founder.
